The Mainframe Trivia Contest #8 is now over. Vern Watts is generally considered to be the “father of IMS” because of his work in leading a collaborative effort on a NASA project that included IBM, Rockwell, and Caterpillar.
Coincidentally, just yesterday I was notified by Roger Miller (well known IBM DB2 guru), that Vern Watts passed away this past weekend at 77 years of age. True to form, he was hard at work last week.
The winners of a mainframe T-shirt for correctly answering the Mainframe Trivia Contest #8 question are:
- Patricia Zimmerman, Wisconsin Dept. of Administration, Madison, Wisconsin
- Steve Baugh, Anpac, Springfield, Missouri
- Chris Bray, Experian, Moreno Union, California
