Vendor Solution Showcase: Software AG’s Adabas, Natural and webMethods Application Modernization Suite

by Editor
August 27, 2008

Software AG continues to invest in new enhancements for Adabas that address both current and future business requirements. These include:

• Open access to Adabas data using Web services, XML, Java, .NET, and SQL to help avoid the cost and complexity associated with integration projects (also makes access easy for staff with no Adabas experience).
• Storage of any type/volume of data while still delivering high application availability.
• Access to the most up-to-date information by pushing data to other systems in real-time.
• Unlimited data storage and ease-of-use, ensuring that organizations can quickly meet changing business requirements.
• Management of the entire Adabas environment from a single, Web-based interface, regardless of platform.

Featured Adabas Add-On Product: Event Replicator For Adabas

Event Replicator for Adabas is a highly flexible event publishing tool that enables real-time data replication to target systems. Supporting enterprise-level disaster recovery and business continuity requirements, Event Replicator for Adabas proactively “pushes” fresh data and creates “subscriptions” to automatically transform and deliver select data from Adabas in real-time to third-party databases or messaging systems. Besides supporting business continuity, Event Replicator for Adabas gives business users the most accurate and up-to-date information for decision-making, and keeps costs low by publishing only changed data directly from the Adabas system “nucleus” (no more massive, time-consuming, data-dump-and-sort procedures).

“Adabas is still the most efficient database engine on earth. We’re committed to mainframe processing. It’s very efficient, it works well, my staff is very experienced in enterprise computing and Adabas has been our DBMS for 27 years.” —Ron Rash, Senior Director, Administrative Information Services, Penn State, USA

Powerfully Into the Future

Since Software AG’s development of Adabas began in 1969, the company has invested approximately $1 billion into R&D for Adabas and Natural—and the innovation is still going strong. Upcoming versions of Adabas and Natural will focus on supporting improved business process transparency, quicker response to changing business needs, increased return on existing assets, more flexible development and deployment options, and easy-to-learn interfaces. While Adabas and Natural share a long and accomplished heritage of enabling business success, they also (along with the webMethods Application Modernization Suite) continue to move powerfully into the future.

One of every five Global 500 companies, as well as 29 governments around the world, depend on Adabas and Natural. These leading organizations are ranked proudly among the 4,000 global customers of Software AG, the world’s largest independent provider of Business Infrastructure Software.
